ADZE: Made from solid ferrous metal; consists of a large, flat blade section that tapers in as it approaches the centre and gets wider and eventually ends at an edge (unsharpened); the blade curves downwards; underside of blades has lettering stamped into its surface that reads "S.LOUNT" and "CAST.STEEL" and has a slightly raised ridge separating the two stamps; the central section was once hafted to a longer handle; is rectangular in shape and extends all the way through the adze; on the opposite side of the blade is a solid metal octagonal peg that is squared off at the end |
